Lady Agatha Danbury (birth name Soma) is an old friend to the Bridgerton family as well as to the Royal family.

Biography[]

Lady Danbury is the maternal grandmother of Gareth St. Clair the husband of Hyacinth Bridgerton. She is also the maternal great-great aunt to Marcus Holroyd, the Earl of Chatteris and the husband of Honoria Smythe-Smith. She is also the aunt of James Sidwell, the Marquis of Riverdale.

Physical appearance[]

Lady Danbury is brown skinned with long black hair when let loose. She always has her cane with her.

Personality[]

She is straight forward with a quick wit. She is kind and caring in her own way. As she notes herself, she always has something to say.

Romantic[]

From the tender age of 3, she was betrothed to her late husband Lord Danbury. She did not find him pleasant and saw intimacy with him to be a chore. After taking part in marital duties with Lord Danbury she would immediately take a bath in order to cleanse herself of him.

After the death of her husband Lord Danbury she developed a friendship with Lord Ledger. Lady Danbury wandered across property lines onto the Ledger estate and met Lord Ledger, the father of Violet Ledger (Lady Violet Bridgerton). The two began to take daily walks, or as they called them "rambles", where they would chat and observe the nature around them.

Lady Danbury then was courted by Prince Adolphus Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the elder brother of Queen Charlotte. When he proposes marriage she turns him down because she wants to learn how to be her own person and not someone else's wife.

Familial[]

As a descendant of the royal blood of the Kpa-Mende Bo tribe in Sierra Leone she is descended from warriors, as she told her son in Queen Charlotte (Ep. 5).

Friendships[]

Although it may not have begun in the best of circumstances Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte developed a long and trusting friendship.

Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton have formed a friendship partly from their shared enjoyment in matchmaking.
