Katherine "Kate" Bridgerton, Viscountess Bridgerton (née Miss Katherine Sheffield) is Anthony Bridgerton's wife, and the protagonist of The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Biography[]

Kate was born in Somerset. Her mother died when she was a child, and her father, Miles, remarried, Lady Mary who was the diamond of her season. When Kate was 8 years old, her parents had Edwina. When she was 18 years old, her father passed away and Mary fell into a deep grief. Kate had to take her father's responsibility and take care of Mary and Edwina.

Physical appearance[]

In the series, Kate has long black curly hair, quite tall and long legs, striking brown eyes.

In the books, Kate is described with fair-skin, dark brown hair and large very dark almost black eyes, with pleasant-looking but sharpish features and a chin that is slightly too long. She is tall, poised, and holds herself with confidence.

Personality[]

Confident, witty, and protective. Kate's assertiveness makes her quite the unexpected obstacle for Edwina's suitors and few can match her quick wit. However, her strong sense of duty to her family might lead her astray if she doesn't stop to listen to what Edwina and Mary want for themselves.

Relationships[]

Romantic[]

Anthony Bridgerton and Kate shared a spark the first time their eyes met. Both of them denied such affections and tried to ignore their budding feelings. The books and the show differ in how they eventually get together, with the books having them get together once they are caught in the garden unchaperoned. A bee stung Kate on the chest and Anthony, freaking out because his father died from a bee sting, tried to suck out the poison. Lady Featherington, Lady Bridgerton and Lady Danbury happened on upon this scandalous scene and they had to rush to get married to save Kate from ruin. In the show, the garden scene happened but they were not caught, instead it was to show how intense and deep their feelings had grown for one another. Anthony had been courting Kate's younger sister Edwina and very nearly married her when Kate drops her bangle at the wedding and Anthony picks it up and their eyes meet, yet again. Suddenly it is apparent who his affections are for. Edwina now publicly scorned, is angry at Kate for hiding her true feelings from her. The sisters work through it and make up. Kate marries Anthony and they live happily in the Bridgerton estate.
